Audi’s SQ7

What makes Audi’s SQ7 the talk of the town

For decades, the four rings of the Audi logo have been desired by all and sundry. Anyone with the means and wherewithal to own a luxury car will always desire to own an Audi. Over the past several years, Audi has broken the barriers with respect to technology and innovation. This is fairly visible in their new offering, the Audi SQ7 TDI. The performance and knick-knacks offered in this car are at par with the best in the market. The diesel offering is the most powerful diesel SUV in the market today, with 320 kW (435 hp) power and 900 Nm (663.8 lb ft) of torque. Its redesigned 4.0 TDI engine features the world’s first electric-powered compressor, giving the SQ7 outstanding off-the-line performance. Even though it is a monster engine, the fuel consumption statistics are fairly encouraging. The reported consumption by Audi is 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers. Considering that this monster weighs almost 2.3 tons, the fuel figure is a testament for Audi engineers’ ingenuity. Some of the features of this car are as follows:

  • Engine type: V8 engine with 90° V angle
    with conventional bi-turbo sequential
  • charging and electric powered compressor
    (EPC)
  • Dimensions (length/width/height, in mm):
    5069/1968/1741
  • Displacement in cc/bore × stroke
    (mm)/compression: 3956/83.0 × 91.4/16.0
  • Max. power output in kW (hp)/at rpm: 320
    (435)/3750–5000
  • Max. torque in Nm (lb-ft)/at rpm: 900
    (663.8)/1000–3250
  • Top speed, in km/h (mph): 250 (155.3)
  • Acceleration, 0-100 km/h (0-62.1 mph),
    in sec: 4.8
  • Fuel tank capacity: 85 liters

This is only the second Q-series model from Audi that has received the “S” designation. This behemoth is at the top of all the Q-series models that Audi has to offer. The highlights of this car is the EPC coupled with the engine, which speeds up the performance of the giant 4.0-litre twin turbo V8, making one forget—only for a while, though—that this vehicle weighs well above 2.3 tons. The SQ7 has already started retailing in Germany at a price tag of Euro 89,900. It has to be noted that around Euro 10,000 worth of accessories are already included in this price tag, namely, LED headlights, adaptive air suspension with S-specific settings, a 3-spoke sport steering wheel with multifunction buttons and shift paddles, the larger 85-liter tank, anti-theft alarm, electrically adjustable and heated sport seats in leather, 20-inch wheels, sporty-contoured bumpers, door trim strips, and brushed aluminum inlays.
